Welcome to John Spence

John Spence Community High School is an 11-16 comprehensive school with 870+ pupils on roll, serving a catchment area in and around North Shields.

We are a successful school, with our students' achievement in national tests and examinations placing us in the top 10% of similar schools. We have a strong reputation for social inclusion. We value all our pupils and work hard to try to ensure that they all reach their full potential.

As a specialist Sports College we have an excellent track record for providing opportunities for our students and the wider community to participate in sport.

As a key partner in North Tyneside's Adult Learning Allliance we are proud of our community education role, which sees almost one thousand adult learners currently enrolled on courses at John Spence.

John Spence is constantly striving to improve on all fronts. We are working hard to raise academic standards even further and to extend the range of opportunities available to our students and our wider community.
